This scam takes the form of false information to military families as described below:

The caller (young-sounding, American accent) calls a military spouse and identifies herself as a representative from the Red Cross. The caller states that the spouse's husband (not identified by name) was hurt while on duty in Iraq and was med-evacuated to a hospital in Germany. The caller stated they couldn't start treatment until paperwork was accomplished, and that in order to start the paperwork they needed the spouse to verify her husband's social security number and date of birth. In this case, the spouse was quick to catch on and she did not provide any information to the caller.

The American Red Cross representatives typically do not contact military members/dependents directly and almost always go through a commander or first sergeant channels. Military family members are urged not to give out any personal information over the phone if contacted by unknown/unverified individuals, to include confirmation that your spouse is deployed.

It is a federal crime, punishable by up to 5 years in prison, for a person to falsely or fraudulently pretend to be a member of, or an agent for, the American National Red Cross for the purpose of soliciting, collecting, or receiving money or material.

In addition, American Red Cross representatives will contact military members/dependents directly only in response to an emergency message initiated by your family. The Red Cross does not report any type of casualty information to family members. The Department of Defense will contact families directly if their military member has been injured. Should any military family member receive such a call, they are urged to report it to their local Family Readiness Group or Military Personnel Flight.

The American Red Cross ensures that the American people are in touch with their family members serving in the United States military by operating a communications network that is open 24-hours, 7 days-a-week, 365 days-a-year. Through a network of employees and volunteers at Red Cross national that link families during emergencies, access to emergency financial assistance, confidential counseling, community support headquarters, local chapters, on military installations, and deployed with troops, the Red Cross offers a broad range of services. Among these services, the Red Cross provides communications for families left behind, assistance to veterans, and preparedness courses for military personnel and their families

The American Red Cross helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year, almost a million volunteers and 35,000 employees helped victims of almost 75,000 disasters; taught lifesaving skills to millions; and helped U.S. service members separated from their families stay connected. Almost 4 million people gave blood through the Red Cross, the largest supplier of blood and blood products in the United States. The American Red Cross is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. An average of 91 cents of every dollar the Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs. The Red Cross is not a government agency; it relies on donations of time, money, and blood to do its work.

THE LINK THE INFO CAME FROM.. It has sooo SUCKED! I had to go have my face lanced open right by my jaw bone and the doctor pulled out a big like mucus looking thing out. It was about a half inch long and almost as big around as a pencil.....okay i know too much info! that was Wednesday afternoon. So there is still a small hole in my face that is slowly closing up. I have to take anibotics by mouth now so it's not going to be so bad. My head seems to throb pretty much non stop right now with all this going on. I just want to get a good nights sleep again. I hope that i will be able to now that the IV is out of my hand/arm. Now maybe J will come back to our room to sleep he hasn't for most of the week because he doesn't want to hit my arm or my face type of thing.....but i think it's cuz he wants to game......LOL!
Any how that is what life is like here in Hickville. I so want to run away when i feel better but i wont go into that just now!

Yesterday i had to go to the ER cuz my cheek was the size of a golf ball. I have an infection and it requiers me to be in the hospital every day for about two hours for iv antibiotics. I have to say that this totally sucks because i can only have an iv needle in my hand for about two days with out fulid going through it non-stop. So it was pulled today after treatment and has to be put back in tomorrow for more. This is something i get to do until Friday and then take something oral depending on how my face is looking. As of right now it's better although it still hurts like hell and i have a taste of shit in my mouth that i can't get to go away! I look like total shit and that is how i feel so i guess that it's all good. I haven't been able to type worth a shit and wont be able to until this is all over and my hand isn't hurting too. I know whining about something so damned stupid, but my vains so SUCK and are WAY SMALL! The skin is so tight on my jaw bone area that i want to cut it open to release the pressure, although i know that wont help at all....because the doctor said it would only make it worse then better......GRRRRR! I wanna good nights sleep with NO PAIN....will that ever happen again???? I know it will but i'm being a whimp and a baby right now so i think i will go get a heat pad and lay back down to take a nap......until something else comes up and i have to get up.......story of my life!

It was the first time we had all three been together in like fifteen years! That is when we did the last one. I have changed the most being that i have graves and am fat now, but it is still a great picture! Now our oldest boys are like two year/two and a half years younger then we were then. We are going to try and plan a weekend when they come down this way before J leaves so that we can camp and have all kinds of fun, hope that we can pull it off!!!
Any how will try and post a picture later when i feel alittle more human....yet to have enough coffee today!

She has had a real hard past couple of years and really found a great guy to spend the rest of her life with....just hope that the snow that they are getting stops and leaves because it's an outdoor wedding! She is so happy and it's great to see he smile like she used to back in the day. So i so can't wait to see her it's been awhile and i miss her more then i let it be known. She is the first chick i never worried about her stealing my boyfriend from me cuz our taste was so not the same....LOL!
J may make it in for the weekend and i may have to cut my time after the wedding short but it's all good i get to go and that is all that matters. Then my parents from up north and my baby sister are coming down for a visit this coming weekend so that will be cool too.....can't wait to see them....it's been a real long time!!! We are doing our VERY LATE Christmas while they are here. The kids can't wait for that part of it....LOL!
Any how that is life here at this time. But i can dream can't i then i would be able to also have our vows renewed too....because that is something that we planned to do this year anyway.....so we may just do the Vegas thing that we had planned with the kids. Many of the unit's members also have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan as volunteers and conscripts with other Army units.
For instance, at least 40 of about 450 soldiers in the battalion deployed with the 222nd Field Artillery to Ramadi, Iraq, in 2005.
Utah Guard officials declined to say whether 145th members who have already participated in combat deployments would be called up as part of this mobilization. "In the event that any of these soldiers do deploy, it's way too soon to say who will deploy," Guard spokesman Hank McIntire said.
However, the Utah guard's top soldier, Adjutant Gen. Brian Tarbet, said in January that all of his soldiers, including those recently returned from overseas, would be considered eligible for immediate additional deployments under new rules aimed at ensuring the military has enough troops to meet its obligations.
At that time, Tarbet said he hoped to keep soldiers who recently returned from combat from having to go back, but made no promises.
The unit's soldiers can expect a period away from home of no more than one year. The Army committed in January to ending the 18-month cycles for its reservists, bringing pre-deployment training down to three months and "boots on the ground" time to nine months.
In the summer of 2005, the 145th retired its Howitzer-style artillery pieces to take charge of new Paladin weapons systems. At the time, then-battallion commander Dallen Atack said the change would make his unit "more relevant to the future missions of the Army."
    mlaplante@sltrib.com

Deployment terms

* The 145th Field Artillery soldiers can expect to be away for a year or less.
    * The Army committed in January to ending the 18-month cycles for reservists, bringing pre-deployment training down to three months and "boots on the ground" time to nine months.

But this is kinda a good thing because they are un able to find a car rental place to let them take it to Salt Lake to get home. So my dad's boss is going to let them drive a car home from the auction on Wens or Thrus this week. This will save them some money and help them get home at the same time. He will have to check in with our doctor here at home so that he can see how he is doin' when he get's here. That is how things are going with that, as for life nothing has really went on new here. I've been hangin around trying to deal with the same shit of catching up bills. So it's just not worth talking about right now that is for sure.....just bums me out and that isn't a place i want to go to again!

Just before i went to sleep my Mom called me to give me an up date, it's better then i thought...THANK GOD! They weren't give her information because there wasn't any to give. When she got there Dad was sitting up in a chair drugged up yes with the tub still in his lung. He is talking very little so when the boys got home from school i called there so that they could each talk to him and tell him that they loved him. That made them all feel better i just wanted to cry when he answered the phone he sounded so weak! But it also made me feel better knowing that he was okay for the most part. his breast bone is broke along with all his ribs including the throric ribs, it was the right lung that was pireced. They also found that this isn't the first time that the breast bone has been broke. That means that it was broke back when he rolled his four wheeler. How the doctors missed that back then we'll never know.
So that is what is going on at this time if there is any more info i will be sure and let you all know.

He fell off the side of the hauler approx seven feet down onto the black top that was covered with ice. He is in the hospital with a peirced lung from one of his ribs that broke ( everyone of them are broke). They have a tub in his chest and they have been putting air into it to get the blood out of his lung. They are waiting on the MRI to see if he broke his back they think that is somehthing that also happend in the fall. His sugar keeps dropping and going up really high they haven't been able to stablize it at this time so that is a really bad thing. My mother talked to him for a short time and he is highly medicated so he was telling her to drive to him and pick him up in the morning. This is the highlight of everything.....him being worried about how the two of them will be getting back home.

I will be heading to Salt Lake in the early morning to put her on a plane to get to him. I have only been home for about an hour. It has been a very long and hard day that started after only two hours of sleep.
I have found out that dad's back isn't broke but the bone in his chest is ether cracked or there is air under it. There may have to be a surgery on his chest for this problem. That was the last that we had been told by phone. While my mom was laid over in Denver and called to find out how things where they told her they wouldn't tell her any more until she was there in person......this does not sound like a good thing to me. I'm thinking that he had to have the surgery......that is all i know at this time.
